Abu Dhabi has signed a major agreement with VERSA Advanced Maritime Services to introduce electric seagliders across the emirate by 2028. These innovative vessels, which glide just above the water using wing‑in‑ground technology, promise high-speed travel with zero emissions. The deal involves creating the necessary infrastructure, service routes, and regulatory framework to safely operate the seagliders, reflecting Abu Dhabi’s push toward sustainable, futuristic transport solutions.
The first phase of operations will link Abu Dhabi City with the Al Dhafra Region, offering faster and cleaner travel options for residents and tourists along the emirate’s sheltered coastline. Over time, the plan aims to expand seaglider routes further along the UAE’s coast, integrating them into a broader strategy for low-carbon mobility and advanced maritime transport. More
