Schneider Electric CEO Olivier Blum is pushing an ambitious energy transition strategy built on the fusion of electrification, automation, and digital intelligence. With global electricity demand projected to rise 60% in the next 15 years, and renewable energy expected to triple by 2030, Blum says the only way to keep grids stable is through smarter infrastructure. Schneider’s EcoStruxure platform — powered by AI, IoT, and real-time data analytics — is already being rolled out across buildings, factories, data centers, and utility networks to make them more efficient and resilient.
Blum is accelerating Schneider’s decarbonisation tools, including its AI-driven Microgrid Advisor, which automatically adjusts energy use, storage, and purchasing to cut emissions during peak load hours. The company is also teaming up with NVIDIA to build advanced cooling systems and digital twin simulations for next-generation AI data centers, some of which can require up to 1 gigawatt of power. Instead of punitive rules, Blum is urging governments to support retrofits, digital upgrades, and smart-grid adoption — arguing these measures will fast-track emissions cuts while modernising the world’s aging power systems.
