DESIGNING FUTURES 2050 Competition Calls for Global Student Innovations on Sustainability

The BE OPEN Foundation has launched the DESIGNING FUTURES 2050 competition, a global initiative aimed at encouraging young people to propose innovative solutions to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The competition is open to students and young professionals aged 18–35 and offers three categories for submission: addressing current global challenges, envisioning future solutions, and rethinking the SDGs themselves. Participants can compete individually or in teams, with a prize pool of €15,000 and individual awards ranging from €2,000 to €5,000.

This competition seeks to engage youth in the pursuit of sustainable solutions and reflects the UN’s push for greater youth involvement in tackling global issues. Winners will have the opportunity to showcase their ideas at a prominent event tied to the SDGs, gaining global visibility. The deadline for entries is March 31, 2025, and the initiative aims to inspire the next generation to play an active role in addressing pressing environmental and social challenges. More
